When love comes along and knocks us down it usually happens so fast that we don’t have the time to think about whether the choices we are making are the best for us.  There is nothing wrong with that; however, at some point you must come down from the clouds and analyze everything.  Love is emotional but we need the help of our brain to keep us from making mistakes.  When in a relationship your mate is supposed to take care of you and that feels great; nonetheless, there are some things you must do for yourself.  Even if your love life is wonderful there are still a few things you need to  do to make sure your needs are being met and that you will continue to be happy.

1.  You Are Being Respected

The most important thing in any relationship is respect.  Without respect there can not be trust or love.  Respect must be established from the start of the relationship.  If you being disrespected by your mate you should definitely reconsider the relationship.
2. You Have Your Own Identity

Being in a relationship is about sharing your life with someone and not about giving up your life to please someone else.  If you find that you are disappearing in your relationship you must make changes.

3. Open & Honest

For any relationship to be successful there must be openness and honesty.  You should feel comfortable enough to talk to your partner about anything and they should feel the same way.  A relationship built on honesty and openness will be beneficial to all involved.

4. Financially Secure

Having love, trust, and respect are all things needed to maintain a lasting relationship; however, financial security is also very important to have.  I’m not suggesting that you become a gold digger or only date someone based on how much money they have but you do want to make sure that you will not have to take care of a grown man and that you won’t end up broke.  Make sure your spouse will be able to be your partner in all things.
