The next time the world heard about Ms. Hudson she was casted as Effie White in the film adaptation of Dreamgirls. Although she would be starring alongside Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, and r&b superstar Beyonce, everyone was buzzing about Jennifer and her big voice. When the film hit theaters everyone saw what the buzzing was all about. The movie was a hit and Jennifer was an overnight sensation. All her hard work paid off during awards season and she was nominated for several awards including a Golden Globe and an Oscar. As everyone predicted, Jennifer Hudson won both prestigious awards and several others. In 2008, Hudson released her debut album, which earned her a grammy. After being voted off A.I. Hudson did not give up; she worked diligently to make her star rise. Her personal life was soaring as well. Jennifer began dating former reality, David Otunga, and by September 2008 he proposed to her. It seemed to be no stopping the newly crowned diva. Then one day tragedy struck and everything changed. Jennifer’s mother, brother, and young nephew was murdered and her sister’s ex was suspected of the crime. Jennifer’s fans and friends mourned with her as everyone tried to understand how could something so terrible happened to such a wonderful person. Due to the loss of her family members and the media frenzy that followed Jennifer took some time off to deal with her heartache. 2009 was a good year for Hudson. She made her first public appearance that year at the Super Bowl where she sang The Star Spangled Banner and later that year she gave birth to her first child, David Otunga Jr. Recently Jennifer became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers and was soon sporting a new slimmer body after losing 80 pounds. With the release of her new album, I Remember Me, Jennifer has become a perfect example of getting your life in order. Although her choice to take a break was respected, many people wondered if the star would be able to come back from this. Jennifer’s journey back on top was most likely difficult but she did it. Now she is better than ever. Jennifer gives us faith to believe that we can recover anything.
